ALL ABOUT US - THEN & NOW

Way way back on a cold November night in 2004 Sam Howell held our 1st practice night.
The evening wasn't quite the roaring success she had hoped it would be - 4 girls turned up, that was all, just 4. However, the next week, those 4 girls all come back and brought other girls with them and just 3 weeks later when we had our 1st Christmas party we had a fully formed Tiny line and a handful of Seniors.

It took a full season of training before any of us felt ready to dance out because our whole troupe
(with the exception of 2 or 3 girls) had never danced before they joined us, but eventually in early 2006 Weston Royals Morris Dancers (as we were know then) Juniors took the floor for their 1st competition.

The 1st association we danced with was KMDO
and we have many fond memories of our friends there.

SENIORS (MEBA FANCY DRESS) - 2008

Our 1st big change came in 2007 when we decided we needed to change our name (as there was another troupe not a million miles away with a similar name and they had been around much longer than us - Whiston Royals!) and so PHOENIX PARK was born

Our 2nd big change took place in 2008 we decided it was time to move on to pastures new and joined MEBA one of the oldest associations still running and who Sam used to dance with in her younger years.
We were made to feel so welcome, it was like we has always been there! Our most recent change was to see us move to our new home at The Chambers in Runcorn Old Town.
